Our Love of Reading
Our NEW Library - September 2024
Today was the official opening day of our new school library
We started saving up for this project over 18months ago and with the help of the community… we did it
Melt - thank you so much for each and every candle you donated to school so that we could sell them - we are so grateful!
Mr Conti - thank you for running a marathon and donating your fundraising to school for this library! Your kindness and determination to support us is incredible!
To the whole community - thank you for supporting us with all of our smaller fundraising. What a massive community effort!
Dan Worsley - thank you for being an inspirational author and coming to our school so regularly to inspire reading and story-telling! The children love you
Precision Timber - just wow! Thank you for creating the most perfect space for our pupils. You brought our vision to life!
Today we all came together to celebrate the opening and thank everyone!
The children are so excited to be able to use this beautiful space that is filled with adventure, information, inspiration, mystery, laughter and endless possibilities
Thank you to everyone who has helped bring this vision to life
Our Patron of Reading
A Patron on Reading is a school's special children's author, poet, storyteller or illustrator. The school and their patron develop a relationship over a period of time and work together to develop a LOVE of reading.
We are lucky enough to have the wonderful author, Dan Worsely, as our Patron.
His visits comprise of story telling workshops in the hall and some writing workshops in KS2.
I think it's safe to say he inspired every staff member and pupil. His energy and passion for reading was contagious and we are so lucky that he chose our school!
Thank you Dan...and in his words...KEEP READING!

World Book Day/Sponsored Reading Challenge
To celebrate World Book Day and our love of reading, we took part in a sponsored reading challenge. The whole school enjoyed taking part in activities at home such as reading to a pet or soft toy, reading outside, reading under the covers, and reading in an unusual place. The challenge also encouraged everyone to read different books to those which they might normally read by finding authors with the same initials as them, books with numbers in the title or books with a colour in the title. There were also challenges linked to reading magazines, drawing book characters and reading an ebook.
We raised over £2000 :)
We celebrated by coming into school dressed as our favourite book characters or in pyjamas in recognition of the importance of bedtime stories.
Every penny of what we raised is being spent on updating our reading books.
Below are some pictures from World Book Day and of us completing the challenges.
