Waddington and West Bradford C.E. Primary School
Fun-filled days while learning together
Every year we take part in the Earth hour sponsored by WWF (Worldwide Wildlife Foundation). Year 6 gave an assembly to the whole school, including a PowerPoint presentation about the effects of Global Warming on our environment. As a result, every class turned electricity off for an hour, which meant there were no computers on, no lights or any interactive whiteboards.
One pupil said "It was very interesting having our maths lesson in the dark, but it wasn't really dark, as we had sunlight through the windows. This made us realise, that sometimes we don't really need the lights on as much as we think we do!" Another pupil said "It is a good idea to do an Earth Hour because it saves lots of energy, and our light bulbs will work longer if we only use them if necessary."
It also helped everyone to realise that they can make a difference, even with the small steps taken.
