Podcasting

The School Podcasting Group

Our School Podcasting Group gives pupils an exciting opportunity to create, record, and share their own podcasts. Podcasting is a form of digital storytelling where voices are recorded to discuss topics, share ideas, interview others, or tell stories. Podcasts can be listened to online or on devices, making them a modern and engaging way to communicate.

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting involves planning, recording, and editing audio content. Pupils work together to choose topics, write scripts, speak clearly into microphones, and learn how to edit recordings into a finished episode. Topics may include school life, learning projects, books, local issues, or creative storytelling.

Why is Podcasting Good for Children?

Podcasting offers many valuable benefits for children, including:

  • Developing communication skills – Pupils learn to speak confidently, clearly, and with expression.
  • Improving listening skills – Children learn to listen carefully to others and respond thoughtfully.
  • Building teamwork and collaboration – Podcasting encourages pupils to work together, share roles, and respect different ideas.
  • Boosting confidence and self‑esteem – Hearing their own voices and sharing their work gives pupils a real sense of achievement.
  • Encouraging creativity – Pupils can explore storytelling, interviews, discussion, and sound effects in creative ways.
  • Supporting digital literacy – Children learn how digital audio is created and shared safely and responsibly.

Our Aims

The Podcasting Group aims to give pupils a voice, nurture creativity, and help children develop skills that support learning across the curriculum. Most importantly, it is a fun and inclusive way for pupils to express themselves and engage with modern media in a positive and meaningful way.
