At Waddington and West Bradford CE Primary School, Religious Education is at the heart of our curriculum and makes a significant contribution to our Christian vision and values. Through the Blackburn Diocese Questful RE syllabus, we aim to provide a high-quality, engaging and thought-provoking RE curriculum that enables all children to flourish academically, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.

Our RE curriculum encourages pupils to develop a deep understanding of Christianity as a living faith while also learning about and appreciating the beliefs, practices and traditions of other world faiths and world views. Through exploration, questioning and reflection, children are supported to develop their own sense of identity and purpose, whilst learning to respect and value the beliefs of others.

We intend for pupils to:

• Develop a secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity and its impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
• Gain knowledge of other major world religions and world views, fostering respect, understanding and appreciation of diversity.
• Ask meaningful questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth.
• Reflect on their own experiences, beliefs and values and consider how these influence their lives.
• Develop critical thinking, enquiry and discussion skills through the exploration of religious and philosophical questions.
• Understand how faith and belief shape communities locally, nationally and globally.
• Grow as compassionate, respectful and responsible citizens who are prepared for life in a diverse modern Britain.

Through the Questful curriculum, we seek to nurture curious minds, open hearts and reflective learners who are equipped to engage thoughtfully with the world around them and who recognise the dignity and worth of every individual as a child of God.
