Ancient Egypt
In this topic, we have learnt/are learning:
- where Egypt is and why people settled there;
- other ancient civilisations that existed at a similar time and the similarities and differences between them;
- Egpytian beliefs about the afterlife and the importance of the pyramids;
- heiroglyphics and the work of scribes;
- and daily life in Ancient Egypt, including clothes, jewellery, houses, games and food.
BOLTON MUSEUM
We visited Bolton Museum to learn more about Ancient Egypt and to look at their collection of Egyptian artefacts. We learnt about death rituals and got to see some real mummies!
Whilst we were there, we also did a trail around the other parts of the museum including the library, galleries and aquarium.
EGYPTIAN FOOD
We learnt about the different types of food eaten in ancient Egypt and used some of the ingredients they would have used to create an Egyptian snack of flatbreads with tzatziki, radishes and honey.
