On Monday, Reception had an exciting visit from Theo’s granma (sic) who came from Blackburn Museum to talk to them about being a museum curator as part of their ‘people who help us’ topic.
They looked at old wooden toys, new plastic versions of the same thing and then created their own cup and ball toy! Their challenge was to beat Jane Austen’s score of 30 catches in a row! I wonder if any made it…
Year 2 had a brilliant Forest School session today. They played the boundary game again and then went onto make small big houses for insects to hibernate/live in. They discussed the eco-system and how important they are to us!
Thank you to the PTA Friends of WWB for the kind donation of £250 which has helped us to transform our cabin into a calm and focused learning area!
Reception and Preschool had a glorious Winter walk in the sunshine this afternoon. We met with our old alpaca friends Domino, Rocky, Duka and Rolo, looked for animal footprints (we spotted dogs and birds), and took in some beautiful views of Pendle Hill and Waddington Fell.
The current theme in Year 3 is ‘There's No Place Like Home’.
Today, the children went on a trip to Clitheroe Library. The library staff prepared a copy of the 1851 census of West Bradford and asked the children questions about it. They had also collected some objects from the past to show to the children. In addition, they had selected a passage from a book that details what life was like in our school in the 19th century to read to us. Also, they had photographs of school children from that time period and we all enjoyed looking at the WWB School Gardening Club of the late 1800s, the school orchestra (our musical tradition goes back a long way!) and a whole school photo showing one of the teachers holding a cat which was obviously the school pet.
What a brilliant school trip!
Thank you to our AMAZING friends of Waddington PTA.

We are very lucky to have such enthusiastic parents

Today the girls have been absolutely fantastic and came second in the Lancashire county finals.
They showed great team work and encouragement throughout ,enduring some very high winds and showers to get all the way to the final. Some lasting memories I am sure for all! A huge thank you to all the parents who helped with transport and stay to cheer us on! It was a great day and I am so proud of the girls! Mr Stell

Today, some girls from Years 5 and 6 represented the school at the Ribble Valley girls football tournament.
After finishing top of their group, they progressed to the semi-finals and then won 2-0 in the final against Pendle Primary.
They all played amazingly and did Mr Stell and the school proud. They will now go on to represent the Ribble Valley at the Football county finals next week.
A huge thank you to all the parents that came to support the girls!
