Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our patron of reading, Dan Worsley, is in school and has kick started the day in Year 1 where they had an inspiring story-telling session about pirates and then had to create a Wanted Poster!
I think you can see by their faces how much they enjoyed it! some excellent independent writing by the children.
This afternoon, Year Four have been cooking and tasting Egyptian food linked to their topic on Ancient Egypt. As part of the topic, they learnt about farming by the River Nile, they then worked in groups to produce flatbread, hummus, salata baladi (salad of the land) and salalet zabadee (an Egyptian version of tzatziki).
The children tasted everything that was made and rated each out of ten. The flatbread and zabadee were voted the favourites overall.
What beautiful outcomes from our Year 1 artists! They have been learning all about Monet and using pastels and paints to create their own art work.
We always enjoy our Friday worship with Reverend Wood!
This week we reflected on when Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days. Learning about Jesus’s fast can teach us a lot about him, about the importance of time alone with God, and about what we can learn when we step away from physical comfort and embrace difficulty for a period of time.
This morning, in Reception, Father Christopher came to perform a 'baptism' on baby Alison.
We made our classroom into a church. It is his job to welcome babies into God's family and tell everyone their name.
Reception and Pre-School have been on their ‘Walk and Talk’ to St Helens church today. They looked at the font ready for their mock baptism tomorrow, as well as looking at the gravestones, the lectern and the gargoyles. They even listened to the bells and looked at the stocks! What a fabulous afternoon
Year 2 had another fantastic forest school session today!
They enjoyed making some bird feeders and had some hot chocolate too
***Millionaire Readers***
WOW and well done to these four pupils from Year 4 and Year 6 who are our first Millionaire Readers of this academic year.
These boys have all read over a million words since September and have been recognised for this with their Millionaire certificates.
It's great to see their passion for reading!
I wonder who will be next?
Reception have had a very exciting morning so far learning all about firefighters and exploring how a fire engine works as part of their ‘people who help us’ topic work
Year 4 have been busy producing some hieroglyphic writing as part of their Ancient Egyptian topic. Well done Year 4 - these are fantastic and are going to look great on display!
